For 40 years ESRA has been welcoming English Speakers into its ranks, helping them to make the best of their new lives in this beautiful Island of Mallorca.
In these post Covid days, as we read of the importance to our individual well being of company, conversation, and companionship, ESRA continues to hold out the hand of friendship.
Open to all English speakers over 18, our members tend to be semi retired or retired having time to meet new people and do new things. If this describes you then ESRA could be the opportunity for you to do just that! We are organised into five districts across Mallorca so there should be something going on near you. It may be a weekly coffee morning, a monthly lunch, a walking treasure hunt, a local charity event or a day visiting one of the many interesting heritage sites on the Island.
There are also opportunities to make friends with members from other Districts at their local events or during “all island events”. These include Golf competitions, inter district quizzes or the popular “annual car treasure hunt”.
Whilst our primary purpose is to offer friendship through our social events, where you can meet friends old and new, you will find that our members have a vast array of local and Island wide knowledge and are happy to share it. Whether it is the best restaurants, local services or experience of the inevitable bureaucracy you may face as you settle into the “Island Life”.
ESRA also keeps in close touch with the British Consul to ensure that our community is kept well informed of the many changes and developments which may require individual action.
This was particularly useful after “Brexit” and during the Covid epidemic.
It is thanks to this relationship and regular updates to our members that most of us were able to negotiate the post “Brexit paperwork” relatively stress free!
Our local volunteers are always happy to welcome new members and new ideas, if you feel that you would like to play a more active role in the association you will also find opportunities to help continue to develop ESRA’s future. – Charles Eden
