A group of members visited this bodega for a wine tasting, some of us were previous visitors, others their first time. It is a small wine producer and the majority of its sales remain on the island, the bottle prices are therefore very reasonably priced!

The owner gave us a brief history of Can Novell before starting the wine tasting. We had seven different wines to sample, starting with two white wines, followed by a rosado, three reds and lastly a dessert (sweet) wine. All accompanied by an excellent variety of tapas.

The details of each bottle are as follows :-

Vermadors 2023 a dry full bodied white wine, strength 14%, Moll was the single grape variety, price 3.50 euros.

‘G’ (its true name was a backward ‘e’) 2023 a light dry white wine, strength 12.5%, grape Verdejo, price 4.50 euros

Vermadors 2023 a pale rosado, a blend of Manto Negro and Callet, local grapes, strength 12.5%, price 4.50 euros

Vermadors 2023 a smooth red wine using only Manto Negro a local grape, strength 14.5%, price 3.50 euros

‘G’ (again) 2020 a full bodied red wine, using a blend of Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, strength 14.5%, matured in French or American oak barrels for 2 years and a year in the bottle, price 6 euros

Vermadors (year not written down) a sweet full bodied red wine, grape Manto Negro, strength 15%, price 6 euros

Delivi, a sweet dessert wine, grape Moscatel, strength 15%, price 6 euros

 The tasting and tapas was 14 euros, excellent value! We will definitely return for more bottles, once we have finished the bottles we purchased!
